22 drinking games for two players
Most party games need a crowd. These don't. The card games are quick and competitive, the question games are slower and get personal, and the couples games are built around how well you know each other.
2 player drinking card games
6- Higher or Lower: flip a card and guess if the next is higher or lower. Wrong is a sip, three right in a row and the deck switches hands.
- War: split the deck and flip at the same time, high card wins both. A tie is a war, and the loser of the war drinks.
- Speed: race each other to play cards one higher or lower onto two piles in the middle. The loser sips once for every card left.
- F the Dealer: one deals, the other guesses the next card in two tries. Swap dealer every ten cards.
- Drinking Blackjack: one of you deals blackjack to the other. Bust and you sip, beat the dealer and the dealer sips.
- Gin Rummy: build sets and runs and knock when your leftover cards add up to 10 or less. The loser of each hand sips.
Drinking games for two without cards

- Truth or Drink: ask each other a question. Answer honestly or take a sip and keep it to yourself.
- Two Truths and a Lie: three statements about yourself, one made up. Guess wrong and you drink.
- Categories: pick a category and take turns naming things in it, like cities in Italy. First one to freeze or repeat drinks.
- Questions: talk to each other only in questions. The first to answer with a statement or laugh drinks.
- Movie Drinking Game: pick a film you both know and give each of you one thing to watch for, like a character saying a name. Sip every time it happens.
Drinking games for couples
4- Who of Us: read a Most Likely To question and both point at once, at yourself or the other. If you disagree, you both drink.
- Predict My Answer: read a Would You Rather question. One answers in secret, the other guesses. Wrong guess is a sip.
- Couples Quiz: take turns asking a question about yourself, like your first concert or your dream holiday. Every wrong answer is a sip.
- Truth or Dare: the phone draws the truths and the dares, so you don't have to come up with them. Skip one and you drink.
Cup and coin games for two
2- Beer Pong one on one: six cups each in a triangle. Sink a ball and the other one drinks the cup. Missing stops being funny fast.
- Quarters: bounce a coin into a glass. Land it and the other one drinks, miss and the coin goes across the table.
Games for two on one phone
4- Guess the Song: real music clips, take turns picking the title. Wrong answer is a sip.
- The Timeline: place real songs in order by year, Hitster style. Misplace one and you drink.
- One Second: guess the song from a split second of music and compare your score.
- Roulette: take turns spinning the wheel, and do the dare or take the penalty it lands on.
How to play the best drinking games for two
With two players there is no hiding in the crowd, so pick games where every round is a duel or a question. These four are the ones to start with.
Higher or Lower for two
- FlipShuffle a deck and flip the top card face up between you.
- GuessPlayer one says higher or lower and flips the next card. Wrong is a sip. The same value is a sip for both of you.
- SwitchAfter three right guesses in a row, the deck goes to the other player. Keep going until the deck runs out.
Speed
- DealEach player gets 20 cards: 5 in hand and 15 as a face down draw pile. Put two single cards face down in the middle, with a face down side pile of 5 cards next to each.
- StartOn go, both flip one of the middle cards. Now play at the same time, as fast as you can, onto either middle card: one rank higher or lower, suits don't matter, aces go both ways.
- RefillKeep five cards in hand from your draw pile. When neither of you can play, both flip a new card from the side piles.
- FinishThe first player with no cards wins. The loser sips once for every card they have left.
Couples Quiz
Each of you writes down ten questions about yourself, with the answers, on your phone. Take turns asking. Every right answer earns a point, every wrong one is a sip, and the winner picks the next film or the takeaway. Good questions are small and specific: your first concert, the worst gift you ever got, the dish you order every time, your hidden talent.
Truth or Drink for two
Take turns asking the other a question. They either answer honestly or take a sip and stay silent. With two players, the best rule is that you have to answer your own question first if the other one asks. That keeps it fair and gets you both talking. Our Truth or Drink page has the questions.
Drinking games for 3 people
A third player opens up a lot more games. Paranoia works from three, because someone always hears the whisper and someone always wonders. Imposter also starts at three players: two know the word, one is faking it. Ride the Bus, Kings Cup and Spoons (with two spoons) all run fine with three, and Most Likely To works too, because there is always a majority.
| Game | With 2 | With 3 |

- Pass is always allowed. Any question can be skipped, no explanation needed. A good night is one you both want to repeat.
- Set a finish line. Play to ten points, one deck or one film, then switch to something else.
