01 — DefinitionWhat is Guess the Song?
Guess the Song is the quick-fire music quiz inside Dronk, the party game app with 14 games in one. It is the simplest of the three music games in the app: no cards, no teams, no board. You choose an artist, the phone plays a real clip from the full catalog, and the group races to name the track. Four titles appear on screen, all by that artist, so even people who "kind of know" the song have a fair chance.
It was built for the ten minutes before you head out: the music you're about to hear all night, played in ten-second bursts, with a penalty for whoever calls it wrong. Every song counts once, the group decides when the round ends, and the app shows how many you got right at the finish.
The catalog is the same one behind the Board and the Timeline: real clips, ranked by how well known each song is, so a round starts with the hits and drifts toward album tracks the longer you play.
02 — RulesHow to play Guess the Song (step by step)
There is no setup beyond picking an artist. Here is how a round runs.
-
1Pick an artist
“Who do you want to guess?” Search or scroll the International list, Drake, Bruno Mars, The Weeknd, Taylor Swift and 50 more, each with the song count next to the name. The green box at the top shows how many of tonight's 10 free songs you have left; Premium plays unlimited.
-
2Hear the clip, pick one of four titles
Round 1: the clip plays (tap the note to replay it), and the question is “Which Lewis Capaldi song is this?” Four real Capaldi titles appear: Before You Go, Someone You Loved, Bruises, Hold Me While You Wait. Whoever calls it first wins the song; the phone holder taps it to check.
-
3Correct: hand out 2 penalties
The right title gets a check mark: Someone You Loved (2018). “Correct! Hand out 2 penalties.” Get it wrong and you take 2 yourself. Tap Next song, or Finish & see result whenever the group has had enough.
-
4The result
8 of 10 correct. “Warm-up approved, you can sing along to most of it.” Tap One more round to keep going with the same artist, or Pick another artist and hand the phone to whoever wants revenge.
Play it as a duel: two players, one artist each, alternating songs. First to five correct wins and the loser takes the round's penalties in one go. It turns a warm-up into a grudge match in about four minutes.
03 — ArtistsArtists in Guess the Song
English-speaking players pick from over 50 international artists across pop, rap, R&B, country and rock. Every artist's catalog was pulled from real, verified releases, and only songs with a playable clip are included. A sample:
Also in the catalog: 21 Savage, 50 Cent, Future, Gunna, Metro Boomin, Don Toliver, Playboi Carti, David Guetta, Zara Larsson, Robbie Williams, Lewis Capaldi, Macklemore and Dave.
Why "pick an artist first" makes a better quiz
Most song quizzes throw random tracks at the room, which means half the group can't play half the songs. Choosing the artist first keeps everyone in the game: you know you're about to hear Drake, the question is only which Drake song. It also lets the group tune the difficulty on the fly. Pick a legacy act for a mixed-age crowd; pick whoever dropped an album last month to separate the fans from the pretenders.
04 — Free vs. Premium10 free songs every night
Guess the Song is free to play, with a nightly limit rather than a paywall on the door. Every device gets 10 free songs per night; the counter resets at 6 in the morning, so a session that runs past midnight doesn't reset halfway through. The app shows how many free songs you have left before you start.
| Free | Dronk Premium | |
|---|---|---|
| Songs per night | 10 | Unlimited |
| Artists | All 50+ | All 50+ |
| Real clips | Yes | Yes |
| Offline play | Yes, download first | Yes, download first |
| Mid-round unlock | Hit the limit, unlock, continue where you were | Never interrupted |
| Also unlocks | — | Every pack and category in all 14 games |
If you hit the limit mid-round, the app keeps your place: unlock Premium and the next song picks up exactly where you stopped. Premium renews automatically and can be cancelled anytime in your App Store settings.
05 — TipsHow to win Guess the Song
Read the four options before the clip ends
The options appear with the clip. Skim them immediately: usually two are obvious hits, one is a deep cut, and one is the answer. If the clip sounds like a single, eliminate the album track; if it sounds like a slow album cut, eliminate the radio hits.
Call it early, but call the full title
The first person to say the right song wins the round, so hesitation costs you. But most groups rule that "the one that goes na-na-na" doesn't count. Say the title.
Pick artists with a deep catalog for a longer game
An artist with 12 songs is a four-minute round. An artist with 60 is a full warm-up. Check the song count next to each name in the picker before you commit.
The 10 free songs count per device, not per person. If two people at the party have Dronk, that's 20 free songs a night between you before anyone needs to unlock anything.
06 — FAQGuess the Song: frequently asked questions
What is a guess the song game?
A guess the song game plays a short clip of a track and challenges you to name it before anyone else. In Dronk's Guess the Song you pick an artist first, the phone plays a real clip, and you choose the right title out of four. Correct answers hand out penalties; wrong answers cost you.
Is Guess the Song free?
Yes. Every device gets 10 free songs every night, and the counter resets at 6 in the morning. Dronk Premium removes the limit so you can play as many songs as you like.
Which artists are in Guess the Song?
For English-speaking players the catalog holds over 50 international artists, including Taylor Swift, Drake, The Weeknd, Billie Eilish, Eminem, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, Adele, Coldplay, Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, Dua Lipa, Harry Styles, Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, SZA, Bad Bunny, Michael Jackson, Kanye West, Morgan Wallen, Chappell Roan and Lana Del Rey. Every artist has at least 10 songs.
Do I need Spotify or Apple Music?
No. The clips stream inside the app with no login. You can also download the music from the home screen and play with no connection at all.
How many people can play?
As many as fit around one phone. There is no player list: the phone plays the clip, everyone shouts, and whoever is first with the right song wins the round. It works one-on-one and it works with a full living room.
How long is a round?
As long as you want. A round runs through the artist's catalog in random order, up to 50 songs, and you can tap Finish and see the result at any time. Most groups play 10 to 15 songs per artist, then switch.
