The Quiz: Live Trivia with a Pin Code

01 — DefinitionWhat is The Quiz?

The Quiz is the live trivia game in the Dronk party game app. It is a LIVE-only mode: one person hosts, everyone else joins with a pin code, and all phones show the same question at the same moment. You tap your answer on your own screen, the reveal shows who got it right, and the scoreboard updates before the next question.

The scoring is speed-based. A correct answer scores, but the fastest correct answer scores most, so guessing early is a real gamble and knowing it cold pays off. After the last question the app shows a podium. What the bottom of the table owes is up to your group; Dronk calls it a penalty, and you decide what that is.

All questions come from curated packs with source-verified answers. There is no question editor, which is exactly why it works at a party: nobody has to prepare anything.

02 — RulesHow to play The Quiz (step by step)

From "let's do a quiz" to the first question takes about a minute. Here is the flow, screen by screen.

   Host creates the game and picks a pack

   The Quiz · LIVE. Type your name (add a photo if you like) and pick a pack: Music Hits is free and selected; Brands & Logos, Movies & Series and Geography & Flags are Premium. Tap Create game. Already have a code from a friend? "Got a game pin? Join the game" is right at the top.

   Everyone joins with the game code

   The room shows a 4-digit code (1234 here) and a Share code button. Players open Dronk on their own iPhone, enter the code and pick a name; they appear in the list as they join. No account, no sign-up, joining is free, room for 16. When everyone is in, the host taps Start the game.

   Answer from your own phone

   "What is the name of the town where Stranger Things takes place?" Four coloured options: Hawkins, Riverdale, Derry, Hill Valley. The countdown at the top is at 14 seconds and the bottom line shows 1/4 have answered. Everyone taps on their own screen at the same time, so there's no shouting over each other and no copying your neighbour.

   Reveal and standings

   The correct answer lights up on every phone (Daniel Radcliffe), and if you got it you see +1000 points!. Correct answers score, and the faster you tapped, the more you get. The Standings update right underneath: Jacob 3,000, Olivia 2,000, Jake 1,000, Mia 0. The host taps Next question.

   Podium

   "Jacob won the Quiz!" Three podium steps with points: Jacob on top at 3,000, Olivia 2,000, Jake 1,000. Underneath: Last place takes a penalty! — Mia. What that penalty is, your group decides. The host taps End the game, then picks a new pack and runs it again in the same room.

Four packs are available on English devices. Every answer is checked against a source before it ships, so the arguments at the table stay about who was fastest, not about whether the app is wrong.

Kahoot is the name most people know for pin-code quizzes, and for a classroom it is great. For a living room the trade-offs look different.

Pick The Quiz when the point is a fast round between other games with zero prep. Pick Kahoot when you want to write your own questions or you're in front of a class. Pick paper when someone in the group genuinely enjoys being the quizmaster. Kahoot is a trademark of its owner and has no affiliation with Dronk.
