Privacy Policy
Dronk is built so you can have fun with your friends without us needing to know anything about you. Here's exactly what we process — and what we don't.
Data Controller
Dronk is developed and published by Dronk ("we", "us"), Denmark. You can always reach us at contact@dronkapp.com with questions about your data.
What we process
The game itself — no account required
Pass-the-phone games run locally on your iPhone. Player names, category choices and game rounds in those games do not leave your device.
LIVE games with a pin
When you create or join a LIVE room, the room code, the name you enter, an optional profile photo, your answers/votes in each round and an anonymous user ID are sent to our database (Supabase, hosted in the EU). This is required so everyone in the room sees the same thing. Rooms and rounds are kept only for the duration of the game and shortly after.
Account, friends and invites (optional)
You can choose to sign in with Sign in with Apple to get a profile, add friends, create groups and invite friends into your games. We then process: your Apple user ID (an anonymous key from Apple), the name Apple shares the first time (editable), the username and profile photo you choose, your friends list, groups and game invites, and your app language. We do not receive your email address. Other users can find you via your username, your QR link, or by having played with you. You can block and report users in the app.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, we store your device push token so we can notify you about friend requests and game invites. We do not send marketing via push. You can turn it off in iPhone settings at any time.
App usage (analytics)
We measure anonymously how the app is used — which games are started, how often, and whether onboarding and purchases complete — to improve it. We use Mixpanel (analytics) and Superwall (displaying and measuring purchase screens). This data is tied to a random app ID, not to your name or email, and is not used for advertising or to track you across other apps.
In-app purchases
When you buy a subscription or a one-time upgrade (e.g. a category pack), the payment is handled exclusively by Apple via the App Store and StoreKit. We do not receive your name, your credit card, your email, or your Apple ID. We only receive an anonymous receipt confirming that the purchase was completed, so we can unlock the right content in the app.
To validate subscriptions, the app may send the anonymous receipt to Apple's servers (StoreKit) and — if necessary to prevent fraud — to a serverless validation function we operate. The receipt contains no personal data, only product ID, purchase date and expiry date.
Diagnostics and crash reports
If you have enabled "Share with App Developers" in your iPhone settings, we receive anonymous crash logs and performance data from Apple. These logs contain no personal information. You can disable it under Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
If you email us
If you send us an email at contact@dronkapp.com we process your email address and the contents of your message in order to respond. The correspondence is retained for as long as necessary — typically up to 12 months.
The dronkapp.com website
The website is static and uses no cookies, tracking or analytics. We load web fonts from Google Fonts; in connection with this Google may receive your IP address as a technical necessity to deliver the font. If we add analytics later, we will update this policy and request your consent where required.
How we use data
- To provide the app and its features, including LIVE rooms, profiles, friends, groups, invites and notifications.
- To validate purchases and subscriptions so you get access to the content you paid for.
- To understand and improve the app (anonymous usage analytics) and to debug (anonymous crash reports via Apple).
- To respond to your inquiries.
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell it. And we do not build profiles on you.
Legal basis (GDPR)
For users in the EU/EEA, the legal basis for our processing is:
- Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — to deliver the app and purchased features.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — to ensure stability and prevent fraud.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — notifications and optional sign-in.
Sharing with third parties
We only share limited data with:
- Apple Inc. — handles App Store purchases, StoreKit validation, Sign in with Apple, push notifications (APNs) and (optional) anonymous crash logs. Apple's privacy policy applies to that data.
- Supabase (EU, Frankfurt) — our database and sign-in service for LIVE rooms, profiles, friends, groups, invites and push tokens.
- Mixpanel — anonymous usage analytics (processor on our behalf).
- Superwall — displaying and measuring purchase screens (processor on our behalf).
- Hostinger — provides hosting for dronkapp.com.
- Google Fonts — delivers the typefaces used on the website.
We do not sell data and do not share data with advertisers or data brokers.
Retention and deletion
Local game data is removed when you uninstall the app. LIVE rooms and rounds are deleted on a rolling basis after the game. Profile, friends, groups and invites are kept for as long as you have an account — you can delete your account and all associated data directly in the app under Settings → Profile → Delete account and data, or by emailing us. Push tokens are deleted when you turn off notifications or delete the account. Anonymous analytics data is retained for up to 24 months. Anonymous purchase receipts are retained as long as you have an active subscription, plus up to 24 months for accounting and fraud prevention. Email correspondence is typically deleted after 12 months.
Children
Dronk is not directed at children under 13. The app is age-rated on the App Store in line with its content. Parents who discover that their child has shared personal data with us may contact us so we can delete it as quickly as possible.
Your rights
As a data subject you have the right to:
- Access the data we process about you.
- Rectification of incorrect data.
- Erasure ("the right to be forgotten") where applicable.
- Restriction of processing.
- Data portability.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing).
Email contact@dronkapp.com to exercise these rights. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Danish Data Protection Agency (datatilsynet.dk) or your local supervisory authority.
Security
We use industry-standard security: HTTPS everywhere, no storage of credit card data on our side, and minimal data collection as a core principle. In the unlikely event of a data breach that poses a risk to you, you will be notified in accordance with GDPR.
International transfers
Our database (Supabase) and website are located in the EU. Apple, Mixpanel and Superwall may process data in the United States — those transfers occur under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
Changes
If we update this policy, we will change the date at the top and — for material changes — display a notice in the app or on the website before the change takes effect.
