01 · DefinitionWhat is Basketball Draft?

Basketball Draft is an NBA draft party game inside the Dronk app. Everyone drafts a starting five from real players, the app plays the games, and the loser takes a penalty the group agreed on beforehand. The picks and trash talk of a fantasy draft, without the season-long spreadsheet.

In Spin the left reel stops on a franchise, the right on a decade, and you pick from the players who actually wore that jersey in those years. Packs instead deals four players for a position you choose. It is the basketball sibling of The Draft, the football version with elevens and formations.

    Pick One phone or LIVE, set 2 to 16 players, choose Spin or Packs and a game length of 30, 60 or 90 seconds of highlights. Expert mode hides ratings until the end. Agree on the penalty before you start.

    Your five so far sits at the top. Below it the left reel rolls through the 30 franchises, the right through the decades from the 60s to the 20s. The combination always has a legal pick for an open spot, so you might get the 90s Bulls or a 70s lottery team. Each drafter has one team reroll and one decade reroll per draft.

    Pick a player and fill your starting five

    Pick a player who fits an open spot, PG, SG, SF, PF or C, with neighbouring positions allowed. The same person never appears twice on one team. Five picks each, then the teams are set: all lineups side by side with their average rating.

    Games, standings and penalties

    The app plays every game possession by possession on an animated court, with scoreboard, quarters and overtime. Two players play one game, three play round robin, four to sixteen a cup with lucky losers. The champion's five glows in gold, then come the standings and the penalties. Alone, this screen is the 82-0 Season.

03 · CatalogTeams and decades you can land on

854 player cards: 461 All-Time cards covering every franchise from the 60s onwards, plus 393 cards from the 2025/26 rosters, each with position, jersey number and a rating from 72 to 99. Older decades use the team name of the time: the 70s Thunder spin up as the SuperSonics, the 60s Wizards as the Bullets.

04 · SoloThe 82-0 Season: Basketball Draft on your own

Start with one player and Basketball Draft becomes the 82-0 Season. Your five plays a full 82-game season against the best five of each of the 30 current teams, home and away. Games tick in one by one with the score and top scorers while a grid of 82 squares fills green or red. Speed it up to ×3 or skip ahead.

The final record gets a verdict, from Lottery team through Playoff team and Title favorite to Historic at 74 wins (better than the Warriors' 73-9) and Perfect season at 82-0, which no team has ever done. Plus your longest streak, your top scorer and a spot in the real league table. A well-drafted five lands around 70 wins; 82-0 happens in roughly one of every hundred of the strongest drafts.

05 · PenaltiesWho takes the penalty?

Your group decides what the penalty is: a challenge, a song, a dare. Basketball Draft only decides who takes it, on the final standings, never per lost game.

  • Two players: the loser takes it.
  • Three players: last place takes it, second-to-last gets a lighter one.
  • Cup (4-16): everyone out in the same round shares a penalty, harshest for the first round. The champion goes free.

In Dronk LIVE the host creates a room and shares a 4-digit pin code. Everyone joins from their own iPhone, no account needed, and drafts at the same time.
