01 · StoryWhy Dronk exists

Jacob Gade Hartmann made Dronk because the party game apps his friends played all felt the same. Most were translated straight from English, with nothing that felt local, and each app only had one game. A good night meant juggling five apps. Dronk puts 16 games in one app, with content written for each country, so a group can play night after night without switching.

The biggest moment so far came from TikTok. The "$20 Draft", where friends split a fake budget to bid on everything from a pool to a hot tub, had millions of views but no proper way to play it. Dronk turned it into a game: the app runs the bidding on one phone, and at the end draws each player's result as an AI image.

The music games are built on real song clips. In One Second you guess a song from a tenth of a second of audio, and The Timeline has you place hits by release year, the way the card game Hitster does, without cards or QR codes.

Dronk launched in Denmark in May 2026. Since September, new players have gone from under 200 a week to more than 2,000 a week, mostly because people show it to their friends, before any real marketing push. Dronk is now #1 in free Trivia games on the Danish App Store. Most of the games are free. And it is no longer only a pre-party app: more and more groups open it on ordinary weekdays too, as a social quiz app.

Dronk is built by one person. Jacob runs MediaVikings, a small Danish app studio, and designs, codes and writes the content for Dronk himself. More about Dronk.
