Cut in Half: The Game Where Both Halves Must Weigh the Same
Cut in Half is a precision game with a trick in it. A random object drops onto the screen, a banana, a hammer, a birch log, and you drag one cut across it. A brass balance scale then reveals whether both halves weigh the same.
Almost nobody nails it first time: the middle of a thing is rarely the middle of its weight. Five rounds, 100 objects, one phone or LIVE. Furthest off center takes the penalty. Free in the Dronk app.

01 · DefinitionWhat is Cut in Half?
Cut in Half is Dronk's balance-scale game. An object lands on a dark table at a random angle, with its name and weight above it: Banana, 120.0 g. One swipe, and the halves slide apart, drop into the pans of a brass scale, the beam swings, settles, and the grams count up on each side. Closest to 50/50 wins the round.
The trick: you cut by weight, not length. A banana's thick end weighs far more than its stalk end, so the honest cut sits well towards it. Cut a baseball bat in the visual middle and the barrel half slams the pan down.
02 · RulesHow to play Cut in Half (step by step)
Three screens: setup, the cut, the scale.
-
1Add players and pick One phone or LIVE
Type in the names and choose One phone (everyone cuts the same object in turn) or LIVE (everyone cuts at once on their own phone with a pin code). No packs: a game is always five random objects. Tap Start.
-
2One thing, one cut
3, 2, 1, and the object drops onto the table. Drag a finger across it: a dashed laser line shows where the blade will fall. Let go to cut and the halves slide apart. 15 seconds, one cut. Swipe beside the object and it just shakes: try again.

3The scale decides
Each cut goes on the brass scale, best first. The halves fall into the pans, the beam settles, and the grams count up: 58.3 g / 61.7 g, "1.4% off center", and a verdict from PERFECT! to Way off. The worst cuts get the red PENALTY badge.
Standings show each player's average deviation and all five cuts. Lowest wins, last place gets a final penalty. Solo, it simply says "Your precision".
03 · Objects100 objects, and why the scale surprises people
100 everyday things, food, tools, toys, instruments, drawn at random. The weight shown is real, spread across the shape like a solid object: more pixels, more grams.
Tapered things
Banana, carrot, baseball bat, leek. The fat end wins; cut nearer to it than feels right.
Round and heavy
Watermelon (4,500 g), kettlebell (8,000 g), birch log (2,400 g). A 2% miss is a lot of grams.
Parts weigh differently
Hammer, axe, frying pan, carrot, pineapple, ice cream cone, lollipop. A badge warns you. The scale still wins.
The hammer gets everybody: 600 g, a long wooden handle, a small steel head, and the 50/50 cut sits almost at the neck. Cut mid-handle and the head drops like an anvil.
04 · One phone or LIVEPass the phone, or everyone cuts at once
One phone
"Pass the phone to Sofie", the round number, "Don't peek at the other cuts". Everyone cuts the same object, and the reveal runs best to worst once all cuts are in. One to twenty players.
LIVE
The host shares a pin code and the same object lands on every iPhone at the same moment. Dots fill in as the others cut, then the host steps through the scale for each player, so the whole room watches the same beam. Up to 16 players.
Solo
From the solo row on the home screen: five rounds alone, no penalties, just your average.
05 · FAQCut in Half: frequently asked questions
What is Cut in Half?
A precision party game in the Dronk app. A random object lands on screen, you drag one cut across it, and a brass balance scale shows what each half weighs. Five rounds; furthest from 50/50 takes the penalty.
Why is the middle of the object not the middle of the weight?
Weight follows thickness, not length: a banana or a bat has a thick end, so the balanced cut sits towards it. Some objects also mix materials, like a hammer's steel head on a wooden handle, and show a "Parts weigh differently" badge.
How many players can play Cut in Half?
On one phone, 1 to 20 players take turns on the same object. In LIVE, up to 16 cut it at the same time on their own phones with a pin code. Solo, five rounds for your own score, no penalty.
What happens if I don't cut in time?
You have 15 seconds after the object lands. Run out and the round counts as "No cut", scored as 50 percentage points off center, the worst possible result.
Is Cut in Half free?
Yes, free in the Dronk app, no account, no ads. The penalty for the worst cut is whatever your group agrees on: a dare, a song, a story.
Think you can find the middle?
Free in Dronk. One swipe, one brass scale, 100 objects heavier on one end than you think.
